Most people know me as Gavaza Mongwe—the Data Scientist, the wife, and the mother of three. But behind the titles and the academic rigor is a woman who believes that the most powerful thing you can do is back yourself.
My journey hasn’t been a straight line. I’ve pivoted from Geology and mining research into the complex world of Data Science and banking. This transition taught me my first "Take the Lead" lesson: your background doesn't define your limit; your resilience does.
Whether I am diving into data at Stellenbosch University or crafting handmade gifts through EE Creatives, I am driven by the same philosophy—Evolve and Excel. While I take my goals seriously, I don't take myself too seriously! If you know me, you know I love a good joke; there is nothing better than a moment where I laugh until my belly hurts—it’s the best kind of therapy.
This lighter side of my life is fueled by the simple joy of everyday moments. I am deeply committed to human capital development. From authoring a 90-day career journal for young professionals to serving as VP of Public Relations for Toastmasters, my mission is simple: to ensure no one fails simply because they lacked a guide. Through my weekly book review blogs, I work to spark a culture of reading and self-belief in South Africans.
I entered Mrs South Africa 2026 because this platform is the ultimate empowerment platform. It is where my advocacy for human potential meets a national stage.
I am here to show my children—and women everywhere—that being a dedicated wife and mother only adds to your power as a catalyst for change, a creative entrepreneur, and a leader in your field I am not just competing for a crown; I am campaigning for the potential in all of us.
