Committing your next to God.
There was a little mouse who was crossing a bridge over a very deep ravine on top of an elephant. As the elephant and the mouse crossed the bridge, it shook. When they got to the other side, the mouse looked at his huge companion and said, ”Boy, we really shook that bridge, didn't we?” When we walk with God, that’s often how we feel—like a mouse with the strength of an elephant.
In this blog, we’ll talk about committing your life and plans to God and trusting Him to lead you into all He has created you to do.
No matter what we think our purpose in life is, there are moments in between when doubt creeps in. Depending on how you are mentally when the negative thoughts come in, you can either start to feel unqualified or stop doing what you need to do. Or you can brush it off and move forward. Hudson Taylor says, "All giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His power and His presence to be with them.” You and I can sometimes feel like the little mouse, facing a great assignment or project and feeling as though our strength doesn't measure up. But the strength of God does!
So what does committing your next to God look like?
1.Do not hold back when God places certain desires and dreams in your heart. As long as it is in alignment with His will, you are worthy of that dream. You are the one to carry out that which He is calling you to do. I have struggled with fear for most of my life; sometimes it would get so strong that I would spend so much time trying to plan out all possible scenarios of how things would turn out. When my plan didn't look promising, I wouldn't go after my dreams. If we want to do great things, we must stop silencing the desire to dream big.
2.Control what comes out of your mouth: It is pointless to believe that your life can be great and speak words that destroy that. Committing your next means also committing your words to the truth of God’s word. Your “I am” needs to align to this beautiful next. Someone said, ” There is not a single instance where Jesus used the words I AM with something negative." Life as we know it can be challenging, but even in those trying times, we need to be careful not to say things that will make the negative voices seem true.
3.Believe that God can walk the journey with you: God wants to help us. Even with all the strength and skills we have, the hand of God makes all the difference. When we put action behind all we believe God for, we must never forget to continue to ask Him to help do well what we need to do.
Whatever your next looks like, whether it is building your relationship with Jesus Christ, your career, your business, or building positive habits, commit it to God. Believe He wants you too to have a great life, tame your tongue and only speak words that water your dream, and be assured that He can help you.
